DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN CUSCO

Upon landing at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in the city of Cusco, our driver, with a sign bearing your name, will be waiting to transfer you to your accommodation.

In the morning, between 09:00 and 09:30, our transport will pick you up to begin a fascinating tour of some of the main tourist attractions of the city.

We will explore the four archaeological ruins:

  • Sacsayhuamán, whose name in Quechua means “satisfied falcon,” an imposing fortress with enormous stone blocks.
  • Qenqo, or “labyrinth,” a mysterious sanctuary with channels and passageways carved into rock.
  • Puca Pucara, the “Red Fortress,” which served as a control and guard post during Inca times.
  • Tambomachay, known as the “Baths of the Inca,” with its water fountains that are believed to have been used for rituals and ceremonies in honor of water.

We will also visit the impressive Qorikancha, known as the Temple of the Sun, one of the most important constructions of the Inca era.

We will conclude the tour upon our return to the city of Cusco.

This day is dedicated to discovering some of the most important archaeological sites of the Inca Empire, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Our vehicle will pick you up between 7:20 and 7:50 in the morning to begin the journey toward the majestic Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Our first stop will be at the archaeological complex of Písac, where we will visit the largest known Inca cemetery, with more than 2,000 tombs. We will admire the imposing agricultural terraces carved into the mountainside, walk through an original Inca tunnel, and explore the religious area of this ancient citadel. We will spend approximately 2 hours exploring this fascinating archaeological site.

We will then head to the Písac artisan market, famous for its color and authenticity. We will continue the journey to Urubamba, where we will enjoy an included buffet lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca town still inhabited today, known for its colossal stone constructions. We will explore the impressive ruins of the Temple of the Sun, located at the top of the formidable terraces, while learning about the strategic importance of this site during the early years of the Spanish conquest.

At the end of the visit, we will say goodbye to our guide and board the train bound for Machu Picchu town. Upon arrival, a member of our team will be waiting to take you to your accommodation. Later, our guide will stop by your lodging to provide you with the necessary instructions for the visit to Machu Picchu the following day.

Visit to Machu Picchu – Wonder of the World

In accordance with the prior coordination with our guide, at the indicated time we will make our way to the bus station, from where we will begin the ascent to the majestic citadel. We will climb approximately 400 meters in altitude along a zigzag road for about 30 minutes, until we reach the impressive Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas.”

Once inside the citadel, we will enjoy an unforgettable landscape. Our guide will begin the tour by explaining the history, architecture, and symbolism of the main sectors, such as the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Zone, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the ancient funerary areas. The circuit to be followed will depend on the schedule and the type of assigned ticket. On average, the guided tour lasts more than two hours.

Once the visit is complete, we will board the return buses back to Machu Picchu Town, where we will have free time to have lunch and explore the charming town, known for its welcoming atmosphere and artisan shops. It is important to keep track of the time, as we must arrive at the train station at least 25 minutes before departure to board the return train to Ollantaytambo.

Upon arriving at the station, our driver will be waiting to take you back to the city of Cusco.

On this tour we will discover two gems of the Sacred Valley of the Incas: the archaeological site of Moray and the impressive Maras Salt Mines.

We will begin our experience between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning, departing from your hotel in the city of Cusco toward Moray, an ancient Inca agricultural laboratory. This fascinating site was used to experiment with different microclimates and adapt crops to various altitudes, demonstrating the advanced agricultural knowledge of the Incas.

We will then continue to the traditional town of Maras, where we will admire its charming colonial church and typical architecture. The experience culminates with a visit to the Maras Salt Mines, a complex of more than 3,000 salt ponds built on terraces, used since Inca times for food preservation and extraction through salt dehydration.

Our tour ends at around 13:30 to 14:00, with a return to Cusco and, two hours before your flight, a transfer to the airport if your itinerary requires it.
