DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN CUSCO

Upon landing at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in the city of Cusco, our driver will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name to transfer you to your accommodation.

In the morning, between 09:00 and 09:30 a.m., our transportation will pick you up to begin a fascinating tour of some of the main tourist attractions of the city.

We will explore the Four Archaeological Ruins:

  • Sacsayhuamán, whose name in Quechua means “Satisfied Falcon,” an impressive fortress with enormous stone blocks.
  • Qenqo, or “Labyrinth,” a mysterious sanctuary with channels and passages carved into rock.
  • Puca Pucara, the “Red Fortress,” which served as a control and defense point in Inca times.
  • Tambomachay, known as the “Inca Baths,” with its water fountains used for rituals and ceremonies honoring water.

We will also visit the impressive Qoricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun, one of the most important constructions of the Inca period.

We will finish the tour with our return to the city of Cusco.

This day is dedicated to discovering some of the most important archaeological centers of the Inca Empire, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Our transportation will pick you up between 7:20 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. to begin the journey to the majestic Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Our first stop will be the archaeological complex of Pisac, where we will visit the largest known Inca cemetery, with more than 2,000 tombs. You will admire impressive agricultural terraces carved into the mountain, walk through an original Inca tunnel, and explore the religious area of this ancient citadel. We will spend approximately 2 hours exploring this fascinating site.

Then, we will head to the Pisac artisan market, famous for its color and authenticity. We will continue to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch included.

In the afternoon, we will visit Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca town still inhabited today, known for its massive stone constructions. We will explore the impressive ruins of the Temple of the Sun, located high on the terraces, while learning about its strategic importance during the early years of the Spanish conquest.

After the visit, we will say goodbye to our guide and board the train to Machu Picchu Town. Upon arrival, a member of our team will meet you and take you to your accommodation. Later, your guide will visit your hotel to provide instructions for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.

Visit to Machu Picchu – Wonder of the World

According to prior coordination with your guide, at the indicated time we will head to the bus station to begin the ascent to the majestic citadel. We will climb approximately 400 meters via a zigzag road for about 30 minutes until reaching the impressive Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas.”

Once there, you will enjoy an unforgettable landscape. Your guide will begin the tour explaining the history, architecture, and symbolism of the main sectors, including the Main Plaza, Circular Tower, Sacred Sun Area, Royal Quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, and ancient burial areas. The route will depend on your assigned schedule and entrance type. The guided tour lasts approximately more than two hours.

After the visit, we will take the bus back down to Machu Picchu Town, where you will have free time for lunch and to explore the picturesque town, known for its welcoming atmosphere and artisan shops. Please be mindful of the time, as you must arrive at the train station at least 25 minutes before departure for the return train to Ollantaytambo.

Upon arrival, our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Cusco.

In this tour, we will visit two jewels of the Sacred Valley: the archaeological site of Moray and the impressive Maras Salt Mines.

We will begin our experience between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., departing from your hotel in Cusco toward Moray, an ancient Inca agricultural laboratory. This fascinating site was used to experiment with different microclimates and adapt crops to various altitudes, demonstrating the advanced agricultural knowledge of the Incas.

Then, we will continue to the traditional village of Maras, where we will appreciate its charming colonial church and typical architecture. The experience culminates with the visit to the Maras Salt Mines, a set of more than 3,000 salt ponds built on terraces, used since Inca times for the extraction and preservation of food through salt dehydration.

Our tour ends around 1:30–2:00 p.m., returning to Cusco. If required by your itinerary, transfer to the airport will be provided 2 hours before your flight.
