The Eco Sandoval Lake 3 Days / 2 Nights program offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, starting in Puerto Maldonado, known as the capital of biodiversity in Peru. During this adventure, you will navigate along the Lower Madre de Dios River to a charming eco-lodge surrounded by pristine rainforest. Here, you will explore jungle trails, spot caimans at Cocha Caimán, and experience the incredible wildlife of the stunning Lago Sandoval.

The itinerary includes rainforest hikes, canoe rides across the lake, and a visit to Monkey Island, home to several species of primates. Along the way, you may encounter parrots, toucans, turtles, caimans, and even the majestic giant river otter. This tour is ideal for nature lovers seeking adventure, wildlife, and an authentic Amazon rainforest experience.

DAY 01: ECO AMAZONIA IN

Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, the Biodiversity Capital of Peru, we will welcome you at the airport to begin our program. We will take a brief guided tour of the city by bus and then head to the Capitanía Port, where you will board our boat. We will navigate along the Lower Madre de Dios River toward our lodge, located 30 km from the city.

During the journey, you will be able to admire rural landscapes, heliconia plantations and, if conditions allow, local wildlife such as capybaras, caimans, turtles, herons and birds of prey.

Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be welcomed with a refreshing Amazonian fruit nectar and escorted to your comfortable bungalow. Afterwards, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in our rustic dining room.

In the afternoon, our guide will lead you along an interpretive trail to Cocha Caimán, a lagoon where you can observe black and white caimans, key predators of the ecosystem.

Upon returning, a delicious dinner will be waiting for you, followed by free time to relax at our bar with board games and a wide selection of drinks. The serenity of the Amazon night and the sounds of the surrounding wildlife will be the perfect ending to your day.

Sunrise in the jungle greets us with the call of the howler monkey, marking the beginning of a day full of discoveries. After a comforting breakfast, we will navigate upstream to the entrance of Sandoval Lake, where we will begin a walk through the tropical forest. Along the way, we will observe a great variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat.

Upon reaching the lake, we will board a rowing boat to explore its calm waters and admire the richness of the ecosystem, including birds such as parrots and toucans, reptiles such as caimans and turtles, and, if we are lucky, giant river otters in their natural habitat.

After a restorative lunch at the lodge, we will visit Monkey Island, a natural sanctuary that hosts various species of primates such as spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys and squirrel monkeys, as well as coatis, squirrels and a colorful variety of birds. The day concludes with a spectacular jungle sunset and a delicious farewell dinner at the lodge.

After a restful night, the call of the howler monkey will mark the beginning of your final morning in the jungle. After breakfast at the lodge, we will begin the return journey to Puerto Maldonado.
