DAY 01: CORTO MALTES IN

In the afternoon, you will begin your first contact with the jungle on a 2‑hour guided walk through the lush vegetation, where you will learn about tropical trees, medicinal plants, and the traditional latex extraction process at a rubber‑tapper camp, one of the most important economic activities in the region.
Upon returning to the lodge, you will have free time to relax in the swimming pool, rest in the hammocks, enjoy a cocktail at the bar, receive a massage, or watch the sunset from the dock. Before dinner, you will take a night boat safari to spot caimans and other species along the riverbanks. The day will end with dinner in the lodge dining room.

The day begins at 5:30 a.m. with coffee or tea before departing to Lake Sandoval. After a 20‑minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River, we will begin a 3 km trek through the Tambopata National Reserve, where giant trees, monkeys, snakes, and various bird species can be observed.
Upon arriving at the lake, we will board rowing boats in search of giant river otters, as well as other species such as reptiles, mammals, and birds in their natural habitat. At a strategic point, we will enjoy breakfast while appreciating the surrounding scenery. Afterwards, we will return along the same trail to the dock and head back to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit one of the observation towers, either 20 or 42 meters high, ideal for birdwatching and enjoying a spectacular sunset. We will also visit a Brazil nut harvesting camp, where you will learn about the collection of Brazil nuts, another important economic activity in the region.

You will learn about their work and taste some of these products before returning to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit a Machiguenga family, who will share their ancestral customs, language, clothing, hunting techniques, handicrafts, and traditional music used in their ceremonies.
Upon returning to the lodge, you will have free time to relax in the pool, enjoy a cocktail at the bar, explore the boutique, or receive a massage. The day will conclude with dinner in the dining room.
